3 Tips When the Future is as Clear as Mud

Can you look back and say that the vision you had for your future played out EXACTLY as your ten-year plan outlined?  I’m pretty sure that unless you are a prophet or fortune-telling gypsy, your life has taken many unanticipated twists and turns.

When life hits an unexpected speed bump, it may seem to set your ambitions back, but ultimately I hope it will lead you in a direction that was better than your vision board could have ever dreamed up.  So, what do you do when you’re in the thick fog of it with no end in sight?

3 Tips to Practice When the Future is as Clear as Mud:

Serve

We are all called to serve with whatever strengths are wired into our being. By leveraging our talents to assist others, we take our egos out of the equation and invariably help ourselves.

One example of this occurred as we neared the three-month mark of the pandemic.  I woke up on a random Thursday morning in a foul mood.  It doesn’t happen often, but it did that day.  There was no real cause for my unpleasant attitude except that I was tired of the situation with no near-term conclusion.  I let myself own those feelings for a couple of hours, but then I picked up the phone and called some of my clients.  As I assisted them to strategically think through their particular business needs, my spirits began to lift.

Surrender

As I detailed in my past blog post (https://authentizity.com/year-of-surrender/), I refer to 2017 as my Year of Surrender. Prior to that time, this concept would have seemed foreign to me.  However, I now know that by adopting this practice, and then surrendering so many times in the past three years, I am present to experience all the great gifts awaiting me.

Follow the Breadcrumbs

When all else fails and nothing makes sense, it’s best to do something rather than to remain frozen in time with inaction. Personally, I have found that I may not be able to predict the big picture, but I can easily follow the breadcrumbs.  Cumulatively, these small accomplishments amass into the achievement of larger victories that then lead to monumental successes.

Following these three steps is what I’ve had to do these past several months.  In full transparency, I did not initially really see how writing and producing my book, ARMORED, worked in the grand scheme of things with my business, Authentizity.  I felt compelled to tell my story in hopes that it would inspire and encourage others.  However, Authentizity is now considered a publishing firm, so in addition to authoring a book, I have an exciting, new service offering for the company.

And now as I am nearing the release of ARMORED, I believe that there is something even greater that I am being prepared for coming soon.  Just as it has been in the past, when things don’t make sense, my faith steps in.  I trust that like everything else from my life, it will all align as a beautiful mosaic that I reflect upon in future years.  Joyce Meyer teaches that we live life forwards, but it makes sense when we reflect upon it backward.  I choose to release any preconceived notions that I have about my future path.  Can you?

NOTE:  I am so excited to be at this point in the process and cannot wait to release ARMORED.  COVID has delayed print times, so the release date is impending.  However, it is coming soon, so stay tuned.  For more details, please visit www.dawnflandry.com.
